Greetings from Open Hearts Art Center! We want to let you know about our upcoming
Annual FUNdraiser, the first big Opening Night at our new location, featuring food, craft
beer and wine, live music, silent auction and raffle items, an art show, and a fashion show
by some of the Open Hearts artists. We sure hope that you can join us!
Presented by the Asheville Affiliates, the event will take place at the new facility at 217 Coxe
Ave., Asheville, in the South Slope on September 14, 6 – 9 PM. Singer/songwriter of soul and
pop music, Stephanie Morgan (formerly stephaniesid) will perform with her band, Pink Mercury.
Opening Night at Open Hearts is open to the public. Tickets are $25 online ($30 at the door) and
cover all food, beverages, and entertainment. To pre-purchase tickets, visit

The presenting sponsor, the Asheville Affiliates, was founded in 1999 as a social networking
group for young professionals to benefit area nonprofits. The organization has grown into a
community network of more than 3,000 members and has raised more than $265,000 for 50

And an Update on Our Progress:
Due to your generous donations, we were able to purchase several items from our New Facility
Wish List. There are also many more items remaining on the list, so anything you are able to
contribute greatly helps Open Hearts reach our goal of making the new building the best it
can be for the artists at the program.
We received a grant from The Cannon Foundation to purchase new ADA approved tables, which
the artists are now using to create artwork on a daily basis. In addition to the tables, The Cannon
Foundation provided partial funding for an AED, or automated external defibrillator, which is a necessary piece of equipment for First Aid and Safety in the building. We are lacking $1422 toward the purchase of the AED and are looking to you, our donors, to help us secure the funds required.
